Summary:

Name Rainsboro applied to 4 m of calcareous till in Highland Co., southwestern OH. Contains abundant pebbles and cobbles in a compact, locally cemented loam matrix. Till is dark-gray when unoxidized and yellowish-brown when oxidized. Overlies pre-Rainsboro till; underlies Boston Till or Drift. Age is Illinoian.

Summary:

Rainsboro is exposed on south side of B & O RR cut on boundary between secs 16 and 17 of Liberty Township. Till is pebble-poor, calcareous below an 85-in. leached zone. Forms patchy ground moraine or till plain on bedrock uplands of Appalachian Low Plateau. Thickness 15 ft. Overlies Mississippian flaggy shale; underlies generally thick loess. Age is Illinoian.
