Summary:

Named for Placer Creek. Type locality is in NW1/4 sec 16, T26S, R24E, Grand Co, UT in the Paradox basin. Is divided into lower and upper members that are separated by Porcupine Ranch soil (new). Lackey Creek soil (new) developed on upper member. Comprises nine facies--till, alluvial gravel, talus, alluvial sand and silt, alluvial-fan gravel, solifluction mantle, frost rubble, slopewash mantle, and eolian sand and silt. None of these facies occur in a single section. Within each member the facies interfinger. Overall thickness not stated. Overlies Harpole Mesa Formation. May be overlain by Beaver Basin or Gold Basin Formation. Of Pleistocene, or early Wisconsin age.
