Age of the Antrim Shale in the Michigan Basin is changed to Late Devonian only based on conodonts, and is divided into four members, from base to top: Norwood, Paxton, Lachine, and upper members. The informal "light-colored calcareous unit" of Gutschick (1987) is here named the Paxton Member. Consists of interbedded light-gray, argillaceous limestone and greenish-gray calcareous shale. Conformably overlies the Norwood Member (revised); conformably underlies the Lachine Member (new) of the Antrim. Thickness at type section is 5.9 m. Age is Late Devonian (late Frasnian) based on conodonts.
