Named the Paxton Creek conglomerate member of the Martinsburg shale for Paxton Creek in Harrisburg, Dauphin Co., central PA. Named proposed for a pebbly unit in the Martinsburg in Harrisburg area. Consists of poorly sorted, poorly rounded, white quartz pebbles and shale chips in muddy matrix. The Paxton Creek is of Ordovician age.
