Summary:

Type locality designated in low hills between Paradise Fork and upper Sulukna River drainages, secs.11,12,14 and 23 T19S R26E, Medfra D-2 quad, west-central AK. Forms generally southwest-trending synform. Is sequence of dark-gray, thin-bedded platy limestone and black shale, at least 1000 m thick. Disconformably(?) overlies Telsitna Formation (new); apparently unconformably (?) underlies Whirlwind Creek Formation (new). Diagnostic fossils from lower part of Paradise Fork are graptolites identified by Claire Carter (written commun., 1978) as of latest Llandoverian to early Wenlockian Age. Age of upper part roughly estimated from ostracodes identified by J.M. Berdan (written commun,, 1979) as probably not younger than Wenlockian. Age of unit is Early Silurian [according to 1983 DNAG Geologic Time Scale].
