Porphyritic biotite granite near Palmetto, Fulton Co., northwest GA, here referred to as Palmetto granite. Closely resembles Stone Mountain type except that it includes many phenocrysts of feldspar, generally microcline. In Greene and Elbert Cos., gradational into Stone Mountain type, and one appears to be simply a phase of the other. In Greene Co., porphyritic type predominates, and in Elbert Co. equigranular type is most common. Age generalized as Paleozoic.
