Summary:

Named for exposures along sides of Palm Canyon, secs. 25-26, 35-36, R4E, T6S and secs. 1-2, 11-13, R4E,T7S, Idyllwild 15' quad, SE San Jacinto Mtns., Riverside Co., CA. Named first used in thesis (Brown, 1968) and mapped in Brown (1980). Consists of light-gray, moderately-foliated biotite-hornblende quartz diorite. "Mylonitic" variety extends northward to just W of Palm Springs (Dibblee, personal communication, 1968). Concordantly overlies Ken Quartzite (new) of Desert Divide Group (new) on W side of Palm Canyon. Assigned Mesozoic (Cretaceous) age. [no basis given].
