Summary:

Pg. 26-33. Paiute Monument Quartz Monzonite. Massive, coarse-grained, gray quartz monzonite with abundant pink feldspar crystals; weathers to boulders and monoliths. Age is Middle Jurassic. (Paiute Monument Quartz Monzonite adopted by the USGS.)
Type locality: Paiute Monument, monolith on crest of Inyo Mountains, 16 km east-northeast of Independence, Inyo Co., central CA.
