Summary:

First published use in Osage Co, KS, Forest City basin; probably named for town of Osage City. Intent to name not stated. No type locality designated. Occurs as "system No. 4" in outcrops 6 mi southeast of Burlingame, but can only be traced a short distance. Is a grayish-white, very soft limestone which is 15 ft thick. Overlies Osage City shale; underlies Burlingame shale. Cross section. Age not given.
