Summary:

Named as 2nd from lowermost member (of 7) of Deer Butte Formation for exposures at type section near Orlano Spring, E/2 sec.15 T25S R43E, Malheur Co, OR. Consists of tuff, siltstone, conglomerate, arkosic sandstone, and olivine basalt. Is 247 ft thick at type section of Deer Butte Formation. Overlies Red Butte Member; underlies Holdout Member (both new and of Deer Butte Formation). Deer Creek Formation is Miocene and early Pliocene(?) age.
