Informally named the Ogle tills for Ogle County from exposures in western Ogle Co, IL (Frye and others, 1969, p. 24). Is formally named a member of Glasford Formation (new). Haldane West Section, NE NE NE sec 25, T24N, R7E, Ogle Co, designated type section of Frye and others (1969). "Ogle tills" were described as including three distinctly different till compositions and intercalated outwash of gravel, sand, and silt. Geographic extent shown in fig 6 (southern part of Wisconsin arch). Composition summarized in table 2. Despite its range in mineral composition, the till is generally sandy, silty, tan to gray-brown, and interstratified with sand and gravel; characteristics that aid in distinguishing it from the more clayey, gray, compact till of the overlying Sterling Till Member. Locally contains Sangamon Soil at its top, and at many places is overlain by Roxana Silt. Locally overlies Kellerville Till Member (new) of Glasford, but more commonly rests on bedrock or on a residual soil developed in bedrock. Has been intensely eroded and is generally less than 20 ft thick. Although definite age assignment has not been made, it is judged to be in the Monican Substage of the Illinoian Stage.
