Summary:
Named as middle member of the Ramona formation (new) in the southern area of the Sapulpa group; named for the town of Ochelata, Washington Co, OK on the Chautauqua platform. No type locality designated. Consists largely of shale but a persistent sandstone lies somewhat above middle of the shale. This sandstone varies in thickness from 5 to 12 ft. Thickness is about 85 ft on an average but west of Ramona, is 20 ft thick. Overlies Dewey limestone member (new) and underlies Avant limestone member (new), both of Ramona formation of Sapulpa group. Stratigraphic chart. Of Pennsylvanian age.
