Named as one (of five) member of De Chelly [sic] Sandstone. Was referred to as the transition, as a tongue of Supai Formation, middle member [of De Chelly?], and as Yeso Formation in earlier reports. Type section is at Oak Springs Cliffs. Is best developed at Oak Springs Cliffs where it is 128 feet thick; is 45 feet thick at Canyon de Chelly and 16 feet thick at Nazlini Canyon, Apache Co, AZ in the Black Mesa basin. Thins northward along east flank of Defiance Plateau. Consists of slope-forming, non-cross-stratified, red, calcareous, micaceous sandstones and silty sandstones. Overlies Hunter Point Member (new) of De Chelly; underlies White House Member (new) of De Chelly. Permian age.
