Summary:

Northeast Creek Sandstone Member of Naknek Formation. Name applied to 2nd from lowermost member (of 5) on Alaska Peninsula, southwestern Alaska. Present throughout entire length of peninsula. Composed mainly of fine- to medium-grained, cross-bedded, laminated sandstone with intervals of locally bioturbated siltstone. Thickness is over 624.5 m at type section where base is not exposed. Conformably overlies Chisik Conglomerate Member of Naknek Formation. Conformably underlies Snug Harbor Siltstone Member of Naknek Formation. Age is Late Jurassic. BUCHIA CONCENTRICA occurs sparsely in upper part of unit; this suggests age is no younger than middle Oxfordian; thick sequence underlying fossiliferous beds could be as old as earliest Oxfordian.
Type section: on east-facing ridge and extending down to tributary of Northeast Creek, in sec. 34, T. 37 S., R. 51 W., Sutwik Island D-5 quadrangle (scale 1:63,360), Alaska Peninsula, southwestern AK. Named from exposures on Northeast Creek.
