Summary:

First published use of name applied to a coarse, "unassorted" quartzite conglomerate mapped only on east side of Minnesota River opposite town of New Ulm, Nicollet Co, MN on the Sioux uplift. No type locality designated. Overlies granitic rock. Considered as younger than the Courtland quartzite of Huronian age. Geologic map. The conglomerate is not uniform in composition. Contains pebbles mostly of quartz and jasper, and also some of gneiss and quartzite. The quartz is derived mainly from the Minnesota Valley granites. Quartzite is from the Courtland. The source of the gneiss and jasper was not observed. Exposures are 50 ft thick. Is in beds 1 to 6 ft thick. Of Cambrian age.
