Summary:

The Nellysford Granulite Gneiss is here named in the Pedlar massif in the central Blue Ridge, Virginia. It consists of well layered, dark grayish-green to dark-green, fine- to medium-grained, granoblastic, garnet-hypersthene-quartz-feldspar gneiss. It is found along the eastern margin of and as roof-pendants in the Pedlar River pluton. Contacts with the pluton are concordant and gradational. Age is Middle Proterozoic.
