Summary:

Unit is named for Mulligan Canyon, sec. 33-35, T15N R51E, Cockalorum 15' quad, Nye Co., NV. Type area designated as exposures on Bills Peak, sec. 10, T14N R51E, Nye Co. Consists of massive flows of light-gray porphyritic rhyolite. Maximum thickness is 400 m. Unconformably overlies the Sheep Spring Rhyolite (new); unconformably underlies the Moonshine Creek Latite (new). Age is Oligocene based on stratigraphic relations.
