Summary:

First published use of name in Cerro de Cristo Rey area. [Name preoccupied.] Intent to name not stated; no type section designated. Name attributed to Garcia (1970, unpub. M.S. thesis, Univ. Texas El Paso). Also referred to as Cristo Rey andesite. Described as plagioclase and hornblende porphyritic andesite. Unit makes up main body of Cristo Rey pluton in Dona Ana Co, NM, Orogrande basin and Chihuahua, MX. Geologic maps; cross sections. Believed to be middle Eocene age based on probable correlation with Campus Andesite which has a whole rock K-Ar date of 47.1 +/-2.3 m.y.
