Named Moultrie Member of Santee Limestone for Lake Moultrie, SC. Unit consists of 6 meters of light-gray calcirudite and biosparrite; it is fossiliferous (bryozoan and bivalves) with phosphate-coated materials and the upper surface is burrowed. The Moultrie overlies the Black Mingo Formation and unconformably underlies the Cross Member of the Santee Limestone. Unit is of middle Eocene (Claibornian) age.

The middle to outer shelf Moultrie Member and the deeper-water Cross Member of the Santee Limestone occur south of Cape Fear in SC and GA.
