Present in southwest MN in Lake Superior region as part of the Lake Superior province gneiss terrane. Is a medium-grained, equigranular, leucocratic rock occurring as a gray granodioritic phase and as a red granitic phase. Age considered Early and Middle Archean. Regionally metamorphosed at 2,600 m.y. and intruded by mafic dikes and small pluton during the Early Proterozoic. Geologic map and correlation chart.
