Summary:

Unite is named the Monotony Tuff. Consists of rhyodacitic ash-flow tuff with phenocrysts of plagioclase, quartz, and biotite. Weathers rusty or green brown. Thickness is 700 m at type; ranges from 300 to 700 m. Overlies Paleozoic rocks; underlies the Shingle Pass Tuff. Age is late Oligocene based on isotopic ages (K-Ar; biotite) of 26.1 +/-0.71 and 27.6 +/-0.8 Ma. (B1520)
