Summary:

The Mill Knob Member of the Slade Formation, here named, consists of calcarenite and calcilutite with lesser amounts of dolostone and shale. Strata of the Mill Knob previously were assigned to the Newman Limestone and other units here excluded from the outcrop area of the Mill Knob in the Cumberland Escarpment outcrop belt in east-central and northeastern KY. It intertongues with or conformably overlies the Warix Run Member of the Slade, or disconformably overlies the Ste. Genevieve and St. Louis Members; disconformably underlies the Cave Branch Bed of the Slade. Thickness ranges from 0 to 13 m. Age is Late Mississippian.
