Metacom Granite Gneiss occurs in eastern RI, as part of the Esmond-Dedham terrane. This plutonic complex described as gray, pink, and pale green, medium-grained, locally porphyritic and porphyroblastic rock, with "rod-like lineation" of biotite clusters after amphibole. Consists mainly of microcline, albite, quartz, biotite, muscovite, and sphene. Lithologically and texturally heterogeneous. Extensively mylonitized and recrystallized. Age is not discussed, but is shown as Late Proterozoic, older than Bulgarmarsh Granite; younger than Price Neck Formation.
