Summary:

Named as member (of 2) of Kemik Sandstone (redefined) on north side of Brooks Range. Type section for Marsh Creek Member designated on west fork of Marsh Creek (SW/4 SE/4 sec.22 T4N R29E), Mt. Michelson quad, northern AK. Is dominantly siltstone which contains numerous isolated quartz and gray and black chert pebbles, about 100 ft thick. Along north side of eastern Sadlerochit Mountains, unit unconformably overlies Ivishak Formation; at Last Creek unconformably overlies Shublik Formation. Underlies pebble shale unit. Microfauna (listed in table) indicate age is Early Cretaceous (Hauterivian to Barremian and Neocomian).
