The Maddox Branch Member of the Slade Formation, here named, consists of green calcareous shale with calcilutite lenses. Strata of the Maddox Branch were previously assigned to the Newman Limestone and other units which are here excluded from the Cumberland Escarpment area of east-central and northeastern KY. Conformably overlies the Ramey Creek Member and conformably or disconformably underlies the Poppin Rock Member, both of the Slade. Thickness ranges from 0 to 14 m. Age is Late Mississippian.
