Unit is named the Lone Formation for Lone Mountain, Alaska. Dominated by siltstone and sandstone intervals that weather to maroon or variegated colors including earthy yellow, tan, white, gray, gray-green, or reddish-brown. Interbeds of lime mudstone or dolomitic mudstone are up to 12 m thick, and weather to various colors, including gray, tan, earthy yellow, orange, and pink. Thickness is 107.5 m at type. Lower contact with the Big River Dolostone (new) is sharp and conformable; upper contact with the Khuchaynik Dolostone (new) is sharp and conformable. Age is Late(?) Proterozoic.
