Summary:

Lion Head Member of Jamestown Formation of Conanicut Group (new). Massive gray phyllites. Bedding is evident only as a minor color variation on the order of 3 to 8 cm. Contains dark-gray to black fluorapatite nodules and abundant trilobites. Thickness not stated. Overlies Pirate Cave Formation. Age is Middle Cambrian, based on fossils (trilobites).
Type locality: exposures north and south of Lion Head Chasm, Conanicut Island, southern Narragansett Bay, RI.
