Karlstrom, K.E., and Houston, R.S., 1979, Stratigraphy and uranium potential of Early Proterozoic metasedimentary rocks in the Medicine Bow Mountains, Wyoming: Wyoming Geological Survey Report of Investigations, no. 13, 45 p.

Summary:

Named as a formation (one of six) in Deep Lake Group (raised in stratigraphic rank) in the Medicine Bow Mountains, WY. Type locality (also called section) designated and measured in NW1/4 sec 2 and NE1/4 sec 3, T16N, R80W, Carbon Co, WY in Northern Rocky Mountain region. Source of name not stated; probably named for Lindsey Lake. Consists at type of lower white to gray, medium- to coarse-grained quartzite with lenses of quartz-granule conglomerate 0-984 ft thick, and upper fine- to medium-grained quartzite with phyllite layers 771 ft thick. Gradationally overlies arkosic quartzite and quartz-granule conglomerate of Magnolia Formation (new) of Deep Lake Group. Underlies diamictites of Campbell Lake Formation (new) of Deep Lake Group; upper contact is sharp to gradational. Reference section designated 500 m west of Lindsey Lake, NE1/4 sec 27 and NW1/4 sec 26, T17N, R79W. Has lenses and layers of quartz pebbles which are concentrated along foreset beds and in small scours, and are as much as 0.4 inch in size. Has trough crossbeds one to several inches deep and occasional ripple marks. Deposited by southwest currents in a fluvial or fluvial-deltaic depositional system. Geologic map; stratigraphic charts. Of Early Proterozoic age.

Summary:

Assigned in the Medicine Bow Mountains, WY, Northern Rocky Mountain region, as the second formation from base of five formations to the Deep Lake Group of the newly defined Snowy Pass Supergroup. Overlies Magnolia Formation; unconformably underlies Campbell Lake Formation, both of Deep Lake. Correlates with the lower part of the Singer Peak Formation of the Snowy Pass Group of the Sierra Madre. Is 440 m thick. Of Early Proterozoic age. Geologic map. Stratigraphic table.
