Kaye, C.A., 1959, Geology of the San Juan metropolitan area, Puerto Rico, IN Coastal geology of Puerto Rico: U.S. Geological Survey Professional Paper, 317-A, p. A1-A178.

Summary:

Prominent limestones in the lower and upper parts of the Frailes Formation are here named the La Muda Limestone Member (revised) and the Leprocomio Limestone Member. Dark-green lapilli tuff occurs between the two limestone members. The Leprocomio was apparently mapped as the Trujillo Alto Limestone by Meyerhoff and Smith (1931). Consists of limey, well-bedded, gray impure limestone and fine-grained, calcareous tuff. Cuesta-forming. Age is Late Cretaceous based on fossils.

Pease, M.H., Jr., 1968, Cretaceous and lower Tertiary stratigraphy of the Naranjito and Aguas Buenas quadrangles and adjacent areas, Puerto Rico: U.S. Geological Survey Bulletin, 1253, 57 p.

Summary:

The Leprocomio Limestone Member of the Frailes Formation of Kaye (1959) is here revised as the Leprocomio Siltstone Member at the top of the Guaynabo Formation in the Aguas Buenas quadrangle. Disconformably underlies the Monacillo Formation or a thin sequence of volcanic wacke and pebble conglomerate of the Guaynabo. Consists of thin-bedded and laminated tuffaceous calcareous siltstone and volcanic sandstone. Maximum thickness is 250 m. Age is Late Cretaceous (late Campanian).

Summary:

The Guaynabo Formation as used by Pease (1968) in the Aguas Buenas quadrangle is revised to include both the Guaynabo and Frailes of Kaye (1959), in the Gurabo quadrangle. The name is not used and it is divided into several formations. The name Frailes is retained to describe beds continuous with beds at the type locality. Martin Gonzalez Lava Member of the Guaynabo is here raised to Martin Gonzalez Lava at formation rank. The Leprocomio Siltstone Member of the Guaynabo is here revised to Leprocomio Mudstone Member of the Frailes Formation.
