Summary:

Leona Formation. Sand, clay, and gravel, up to 50 feet thick. Upper surface about 55 to 85 feet above floodplain level. Possibly a correlative of Onion Creek Marl to north in Austin Sheet. Age is Pleistocene.
Mapped in Hays and Caldwell Cos., southeastern TX; forms a broad terrace southeast of Kyle, TX.

Pamphlet [p. 1]. Leona Formation. Fine calcareous silt grading down into coarse gravel; type locality first wide terrace of Nueces and Leona Rivers below level of Pliocene or Pleistocene Uvalde Gravel [Uvalde area, Uvalde County, south-central Texas]. May correlate with Onion Creek Marl of Austin sheet. Previously mapped (1974 ed.) as fluviatile terrace deposits. Age is Pleistocene.
