Summary:

Lehigh Acres Formation of Glades Group. [Named preempted by Lehigh Acres Member of Tamiami Formation of Peck and others (1979) in same area.] Is uppermost of four regionally persistent anhydrite units identified below the Punta Gorda Anhydrite in the subsurface of the South Florida basin. Composed of: West Felda Shale Member, a gray, calcareous shale unit; Twelve Mile Member, a limestone unit containing the "brown dolomite" zone; and Able Member, an anhydrite and limestone unit. Thickness 550 feet in type well, and varies from 530 to 740 feet in the downdip portion of the basin. Overlies Pumpkin Bay Formation (new); underlies Punta Gorda Anhydrite of Glades Group. Age is Early Cretaceous (earliest Comanchean).
Type section (subsurface): depth-interval 12,250 to 12,800 ft, Humble Oil and Refining Company No. 1 Lehigh Acres well P-407, in sec. 14, T. 45 S., R. 27 E., Lee Co., FL. Named from the nearby community of Lehigh Acres.
