Summary:

Named as middle of three formations of Pleasanton Group for city of Lees Summit, Jackson Co, MO. Type section (Stratigraphic section 6) in shale quarry of Acme Brick and Tile Company's plant at Vale in NE1/4 NW1/4 sec 27, T48N, R32W, Jackson Co, MO, Forest City basin [basal Exline Limestone Member not described]. Occurs in vicinity of Everett, southern Cass Co, MO extending northward to southern Appanoose Co, IA in Iowa shelf. Divided into two members--basal Exline Limestone Member and overlying Unity Farm Shale Member (new). Exline consists of thin beds of limestone and calcareous shale. Unity Farm consists of sandy, micaceous shale. Thickness of formation at type section is 65 ft [excludes Exline]. Conformably overlies Seminole Formation of Pleasanton Group. Unconformably underlies Shale Hill Formation (new) of Pleasanton. Correlation chart. Many measured sections. Fossil list. Correlates with lower part of Modesto Formation in western IL, with Checkerboard Limestone and lower part of Tacket Formation in KS, and with Checkerboard and lower part of Coffeyville Formation in northern OK. Late Pennsylvanian (early Missourian) age.
