Leatherwood quartz diorite. Orogeny which apparently took place during Laramide time was accompanied by emplacement of Leatherwood quartz diorite which was followed by emplacement of Catalina granite (new). [Age is post-Cretaceous.]

Contains aluminous hornblende and large euhedral crystals of epidote partly or totally enclosed in biotite. Estimated time of emplacement 68 +/-8 Ma [Late Cretaceous] at depth of 20.7 +/-1.1 km (5.6 +/-0.3 kbar, 789 +/-3 deg. C).
