Summary:

Named as a member of Springer formation in the Ardmore basin in southern OK in the S. Oklahoma folded belt province. Name derived from a sportsman's lake of that name in sec 2, T4S, R1E, Carter Co, OK, where ledge forms narrow peninsulas and islets. No type locality given. Is a persistent sandstone quite similar in character to the Overbrook sandstone member (new) of the Springer formation. Is 15 to 20 ft thick. Lies 500 ft or less above the Overbrook; overlies and underlies unnamed black shale of Springer. Is 250 to 500 ft below Primrose member (new) of Springer formation. A few casts of coiled cephalopods, not specifically identifiable, found near southwest corner sec 6, T6S, R2E, just north of Springer. Fossil list; geologic map; columnar section. Of Pennsylvanian age.
