Summary:

Named for Kolekole Pass, Waianae Range, Island of Oahu. Crops out near pass. Consists of lavas and deeply weathered cinders cut away by erosion. Probably correlative with older members of Honolulu volcanic series. Assigned Pleistocene age in stratigraphic chart.

Summary:

Type locality is Kolekole Pass [Schofield Barracks 7.5' quad, Island of Oahu, HI] Lava exposed over area few hundred sq yards 0.1 mi W of Kolekole Pass. Cinder exposed in road cut N of pass. Thickness about 6 ft. Consists of olivine basalt. Cinder contains dunite nodules. Overlies Waianae volcanic series and alluvium with erosional disconformity. Assigned Pleistocene(?) age.

Summary:

Is here geographically extended to include cones and flows on S end of Waianae Range formerly considered to be part of Waianae Volcanics. Type section is 2-m-thick flow 0.18 km west of Kolekole Pass [21 deg 28' 38"N, 158 deg 07' 01"W, Schofield Barracks 7.5' quad] Island of Oahu, HI. Reference section: cinder deposits lying on alluvium 0.8 km north of pass; also reference sections at southern end of Waianae Range at Puu Kuua, Puu Kapuai, Puu Makakilo, Puu Kapolei, and Puu Palailai. Unconformably overlies Kamaileunu Member (new) of Waianae Volcanics and alluvium at pass. Underlies Koolau Volcanics near Puu Kuua and in drillholes on southeast side of Waianae Range. Is tentatively considered to be Pleistocene(?) age.
