Pg. 160, 163-164; geol. map. Kinsey Canyon formation. Conglomerate (lower part) and lacustrine beds (upper part). Tuffaceous material occurs in upper few feet. Thickness up to about 400 feet. Underlies Kalamazoo volcanics (new). Rests with slight angular unconformity on underlying upper Paleozoic rocks, locally contact is conglomerate-filled channels in Ely limestone. Is oldest Tertiary unit in area. Tentatively correlated with the Eocene and early Oligocene(?) Sheep Pass formation of southern Egan Range, based on stratigraphic relations.
Named from best exposures in Kinsey Canyon, Schell Creek Range area, Ely quadrangle, White Pine Co., [Humboldt National Forest], eastern NV.
