Pg. 44, 45, 47. King Hill shale bed of Lecompton limestone member of Shawnee formation. Present in southeastern Nebraska, northeastern Kansas, southwestern Iowa, and northwestern Missouri. Bluish-green and reddish argillaceous shale, about 7 feet thick at type locality. Is 4 feet thick in Missouri and 6 to 7 feet in Kansas. Underlies Avoca limestone and overlies Cullom limestone [later named Beil limestone and still later Cullom was abandoned]. All included in Lecompton limestone. Age is Pennsylvanian (Missouri age). Report includes cross sections, measured sections, geologic maps, stratigraphic tables.
Type locality: in King Hill, southeast of Rock Bluff, [Cass Co.], southeastern NE.

King Hill shale bed of Lecompton limestone member of Shawnee group. Upper part is gray; lower part is greenish, argillaceous, and bedded. Thickness 7 feet 8 inches. Occurs above Beil limestone and below Avoca limestone. Age is Pennsylvanian.
