Summary:

Named as uppermost formation (of 5) of Kelp Bay Group for exposures on Khaz Peninsula. Type locality designated as part of Khaz Peninsula at latitude of head of Slocum Arm, Chichagof Island, southeastern AK. Also occurs on northwestern Baranof Island. Composed of greenstone, greenschist, graywacke, and phyllite. Thickness is impossible to estimate owing to its chaotic structure but general dip and width suggest it is perhaps 1000's of ft thick. Intertongues with and overlies other members of Kelp Bay Group. Conformably underlies Sitka Graywacke (new). Age is considered to be Triassic and (or) Jurassic on basis of fragment of scleractinian colonial coral.
