Summary:

Named for Kettle Creek, U.S. Air Force Academy site, El Paso Co, CO in the Denver basin. Type locality is in NW1/4 NW1/4 sec 6, T13S, R66W. Occurs along Monument Creek, Black Squirrel Creek, and Kettle Creek. Consists of unconsolidated olive-gray and yellowish-brown, medium to coarse sand. Is poorly stratified. Individual beds are usually less than 1 ft. Upper 2 ft is silty. Ranges from 3-15 ft thick. Probably was reworked from Pine Valley Gravel. Is younger than Pine Valley Gravel (new) and older than Monument Creek Alluvium (new). Correlated with Louviers Alluvium of Denver area. Of Pleistocene, or early Wisconsin age. Geologic map.
