Brooks, A.H., 1902, Preliminary report on the Ketchikan mining district, Alaska: U.S. Geological Survey Professional Paper, 1, 120 p.

Summary:

Occurs in vicinity of Ketchikan, on both sides of Tongass Narrows, on western part of Revillagigedo Island, on Cleveland Peninsula, along George Inlet, and eastern side of Behm Canal as far as Traitors Cove. Forms belt between Vallenar series (new) and granite of Coast Range. Ketchikan series is composed of argillaceous and arenaceous schists, including some limestone areas. Intruded by stocks. Contains gold ores on Cleveland Peninsula. Thickness and age could not be determined but believed to be in part Mesozoic. Correlation suggests limestones are Carboniferous and that argillites are Triassic.
