Summary:

Named as middle volcanic member of Makanaka Formation of Laupahoehoe Group for lavas exposed in upper Waikahalulu Gulch, Mauna Kea Volcano, Island of Hawaii. Overlies informal "lower member" and underlies informal "upper member" (both of Makanaka Formation). Assigned Pleistocene age.

Summary:

Name "Kemole Member" is here abandoned and applied to chronostratigraphic unit "Kemolean stage". Volcanic rocks now assigned to Waikahalulu Formation of Laupahoehoe Group. Carbon-14 ages for Kemolean stage now restricted to 37,200 +/-1400 to 29,700 +/-500 yr B.P.
