Summary:

Rocks formerly called Morrison? Formation east of Salt Lake City assigned to Kelvin as its basal member and named Parleys Member. Overlying upper part of Kelvin called upper member. First published description noted gray boulders and color of formation, but no map or measured section, and location of Kelvin's Grove in Emigration Canyon not clearly stated. Parleys Member consists primarily of lavender-gray siltstone, white to gray limestone as beds, nodules or concretions, gray to red sandstone, and conglomerate about 100 ft thick. Upper member consists of pale- to dark-red sandstone, siltstone, and conglomerate about 1,565 ft thick. Correlates with Cloverly Formation of WY, Cedar Mountain Formation of southeast UT. Of medial Early Cretaceous age.
