First published use of name. Intent to name and designation of type not stated. Probably named for town of Keetley, south of Park City in Wasatch Co, UT in the Uinta basin. Is well exposed between Silver Fork Junction and Hailstone in Wasatch Co. Not distinguished from other volcanic rocks on a geologic sketch map. Consists of andesitic flows, agglomerates, and tuffs. Unconformably overlies older folded sedimentary rocks. [No other contact relations described.] Age not stated.

The following radiometric dates have been obtained from biotite in the Keetley Volcanics east of Draper, Heber quad, UT in Utah Co on the Wasatch uplift--34.0 +/-1.0, 32.7 +/-1.0, 35.1 +/-1.1 m.y. These are early Oligocene dates. These volcanics are intruded by shallow stocks. Represent the last phase of igneous activity near the Park City district.

An age of 36.0 +/-3.8 m.y. obtained from zircon from a tuff at or near the base of the conglomerate that is below and interfingers with Keetley Volcanics and unconformably overlies the Wasatch Formation.
