Powell, L.H., 1935, A study of the Ozarkian faunas of southeastern Minnesota: The Science Museum of The Saint Paul Institute, Science Bulletin, no. 1, 80 p.

Summary:

Type locality is exposure in bluff of Minnesota River at Kasota, Le Sueur Co, MN, for which unit is named. At present, Kasota can only be separated from Jordan sandstone by its fauna which is known to occur at St. Peter (Nicollet Co, MN) in bank of Minnesota River beneath west end of highway bridge, at type in upper sand beds in sandpit, and at Rapidan (Blue Earth Co, MN) all within Sioux uplift. Consists of white, medium to coarse grained, well-rounded sand; has somewhat irregular bedding. Upper bed, which has Kasota's fauna, is 6.5 ft thick [total thickness not discussed]. Conformably overlies Jordan sandstone; conformably underlies Blue Earth siltstone bed (new). Kasota is apparently reworked Jordan. Faunal list and descriptions. Correlates (chart) with lower part of Eminence [dolomite]. Gastropod genera similar to Oneota dolomite faunas of either MN or IA, therefore, is assigned Ordovician (Ozarkian) age.
