Cobban, W.A., 1988, The Upper Cretaceous ammonite Watinoceras Warren in the Western Interior of the United States, IN Contributions to paleontology: U.S. Geological Survey Bulletin, 1788, 15 p.

Summary:

[Is basal formation of three in Smoky River Group.] Age is refined to early Turonian (Late Cretaceous) on basis of ammonites WATINOCERAS REESIDEI identified from unit (Warren, 1930) near Watino, west-central Alberta, CN, Alberta trough, and W. COLORADOENSE recorded from Smoky River-Peace River area of western Alberta (Gleddie, 1949, p. 529) and from northeastern British Columbia (Scott, 1967, table 2). Fauna places it within the middle zone of tripartite ammonite zonation of the early Turonian. [On basis of ammonites, the Kaskapau Formation is correlative (in part) with Bridge Creek Member of Greenhorn Limestone in CO, KS, and NM; Cone Member of Marias River Shale in MT; and Greenhorn Member of Cody Shale in MT.]
