Summary:

Named as a member of San Manuel formation (new) of Gila group, presumably for Kannally Wash, T9S, R16E, Pinal Co, AZ in Basin-and-Range province. No type locality designated. Is exposed north of the wash to T8S where it is cut off by the San Manuel fault. Correlation chart. Geologic map. Block diagrams. Rests of erosion surface cut on the fanglomerate unit of Cloudburst formation, or west of Kannally Wash in the Santa Catalina Mountains on Precambrian quartz monzonite, or, locally, on the conglomerate member of the San Manuel. Is overlain disconformably by the Tucson Wash member (new) of San Manuel. Is an alluvial deposit composed of large, rounded to well-rounded boulders of gray quartz monzonite, some as large as 10 ft across, cobble-size gray-green quartz monzonite porphyry, fragments of diabase, aplite, olive-green phyllite, and quartzite. In general is poorly sorted. Average grain size becomes smaller upward to silty coarse sand and small-pebble conglomerate. Matrix contains large amounts of silt. Breccia deposits in two areas. Is 3,000 to 5,000 ft thick. Of middle? Tertiary age.

Summary:

Age of the Kannally Member of the San Manuel Formation is revised from middle(?) Tertiary --to-- early(?) Miocene based on the revised age for the San Manuel Formation. [Kannally Member not addressed in this report.]
