Summary:

Named as an unranked unit of Cave Creek formation (new) of the Salt Fork division (new) of the Cimarron series (new) for the former Jenkins post office, near Cave Creek. No type locality designated although one locality was measured on Cave creek at the Comanche cave, Comanche Co, KS, Anadarko basin. At that locality thickness of Jenkins clay is 7 to 10 ft. Is an interval of red clay separating Shimer gypsum (new, unranked), above, from Medicine Lodge gypsum (new, unranked), below; both units of the Cave Creek formation of Salt Fork division of Cimarron series. Of Permian age.
