Summary:

Jamestown Formation of Conanicut Group (new). Includes (ascending) Lion Head, Beavertail Point, Hull Cove, and Bass Rock Members. Upper three members are lateral equivalents. Thickness about 200m. Underlies Fort Burnside and Dutch Island Harbor Formations, also of Conanicut Group. Overlies Pirate Cave Formation. Age is Middle Cambrian, based on fossils.
Type locality: Conanicut Island, southern Narragansett Bay, southeastern RI. First described at Beavertail Point on Conanicut Island. Named from town of Jamestown.
