Summary:

Jamestown limestone member of McLeansboro formation. Dark-blue limestone, 2.5 feet thick, containing PRODUCTUS sp. Top lies 4.5 to 7 feet below Bankston Fork limestone member and base lies 18+/- feet above Herrin (No. 6) coal in vicinity of Pinckneyville and Jamestown, Perry County, southwestern Illinois. Age is Pennsylvanian. Typically exposed in vicinity of Jamestown.

Pg. 35, 54 (table 3). Jamestown limestone. Replaced with Conant limestone member (new) of Carbondale formation of Kewanee group (new). Name Jamestown will be used for the coal beneath the limestone. Presentation of new rock-stratigraphic classification of Pennsylvanian strata in Illinois; cyclical classification is independent of rock-stratigraphic classification.
