Island Hill formation, named for isolated hill on Yellow Creek, consists of a few layers of more or less cherty and siliceous fossiliferous limestone with a thin basal limestone conglomerate. Thickness 3 ft. Assigned to Oriskanian series. Unconformably underlies Whetstone Branch shale and overlies New Scotland limestone. Unit is largely confined to its type locality in Tishomingo Co. Age is Early Devonian.

Island Hill Formation not used. Ross Formation of this report includes New Scotland and Island Hill Formations of Morse (1928) and all strata above Decatur Limestone and below Flat Gap Limestone as well as a member of the Ross of Wilson (1949).
